Every meal leaves its share of splatters, solidified grease, and burnt-on residue that end up turning your stovetops into veritable battlefields… But if you think restoring them is mission impossible without chemicals, think again! There are much gentler (and actually effective) solutions to restore their shine. Intrigued? Wait until you find out what you already have in your cupboards…
Dirty hobs: the real problem

We’ve all experienced that moment when, when we lift a pan , we discover a puddle of sauce or a deposit of blackish grease on the plates . And if we put off cleaning, hello hassle the following weekend! However, there’s no need to bring out the big guns or spend a fortune on stripping products. The trick is to act quickly… and intelligently.
Soapy water and bicarbonate: the magic combination
Thought soapy water was only for making bubbles for kids? Think again! It’s your best friend against grease.
- Soak the plates in very hot water with added dishwashing liquid or, even better, liquid Marseille soap .
- Let it sit for 15 minutes. The heat and soap will loosen much of the residue.
- Then sprinkle baking soda onto a damp sponge and scrub. This duo is very effective : the soap degreases while the baking soda polishes without scratching.
- Rinse and dry thoroughly with a microfiber cloth .
Result: plates like new, without a drop of chemicals.
